Caught

Caught is the story told by a 40 year old lady who is narrating her life. In the story she is a doctor who is married with a 9 year old kid. The lady is actually secretly having an affair with one of her patients. The boy who is the patient comes to the lady every Tuesday. Whenever the boy and the lady meet they make out and usually go to the boy's appartment. At the apartment is where they both usually go to have sex. One day when the lady's husband was dropping by at his wife's clinic he saw her making out with the same boy who is 10 years younger of age. The husband was heartbroken and told his wife that their relationship is over. He also said that he's going to keep the kid and she can go live with the boy or whoever she wants. At the end of the story the lady is told living in the boy's apartment all happy.

A Handful of Dates

A Handful of Dates is a story about a young boy who looks up to his grandfather a lot. To the boy, his grandfather seems almost God-like. The boy also feels that he is his grandfather's favourite grandchild because he knows when his grandfather wants him to laugh or be silent, and he is also good at reciting from the Koran. One day, the boy's neighbour, Masood, asks if he would like to help him harvest his dates. The boy and his grandfather agree, but don't end up doing anything. The boy watches everyone else, and his grandfather falls asleep. Soon, some other people come along and begin to weigh and divide the dates into bags. A merchant takes then bags, two other men each take five, a neighbour takes five, and the boy's grandfather takes five. This leaves nothing for poor Masood even if the harvested dates were his to begin with. The boy's grandfather says that Masood is in debt to him, which is why he feels grateful to take whatever he wants. He then proceeds to turn around and head home knowing that his grandchild will follow. Instead the boy runs to the river, ignoring his grandfather's calls, and throws up the dates he had just eaten.

The Weather

The weather is an unusual story that is told from the point of view of two characters. This is the story of a single loving father Steve and his daughter Edith. One day on her way back home, Edith saw a girl two years older than her, named Rae, She invited Rae to come to her house for a snack knowing the fact that her father wouldn't mind. When Steve first saw Rae he didn't really like her, but gradually things go better. Rae was an outgoing girl who would often sneak in Edith's house to part even though Edith was sleeping. Steve knew all this but didn't do anything about it. One early morning Steve and Rae were having coffee and talking about the bad weather that changed everything. It was a tornado in the country side which messed up most of the parts in the house. Steve's wife Mary always hated the country and the weather. One day when Mary couldn't take it she decided to leave Steve and moved away. Steve and Rae shared a lot of personal things about Steve's past life. Things got very uncomfortable because Rae started coming to Edith's house when she was sleeping. Rae would sneak into Steve's room and in his bed. They shared some special moments but didn't go all the way. One night Rae all of a sudden just put her clothes back on and went home. Steve was having his cofee in the morning and didn't know how he would tell his daughter Edith about his closeness with her friend Rae.

A Television Drama

One afternoon, Carolee Mitchell was disturbed by an incident in front of her house. There were many police cars and reporters in front of her house. Very calmy she looked through the window to see what was happening. She could not see anything but men in uniforms blocking the road and her neighbours all trying to know what happened. Suddenly; an ambulance came and took away a suspect suffering from wounds. She then heard the radio saying that the policeman was in operating room having a bullet being removed from his right lung. Later that afternoon her husband arrived home all worried and asked if she was alright. She calmy said she was fine and not frightened at all. She later saw the wounded man sitting by the laurel hedge in her garden. She had no idea on what to do, so just left him alone. Later that night her and her husband watched the news. After watching the news she realized how big of a deal it was and how scary it had been. She wondered what would have happened if she told the reporter that she saw the man. She was curious if that would change the dots in the paper. As she watched the news she forgot she was sitting in her safe house and was afraid.

Taces

Being happily married for 2 years is the story of Peter and Mimi. Going from high school lovers to a married couple is the journey of their story. Things have always been pretty tough for the two because peter has cheated on Mimi before but did tell her the truth. Madly in love with Peter, Mimi let that go by. All this was ok until Peter took things too far.

One day when Peter came home from work he started acting in a vcery strange manner that made Mimi think that something fishy was going on. Confused Mimi didn't know what to do so, she called her best friend April. April and Mimi were pretty close so Mimi usually shared a lot of things with her. April told Mimi that she saw Peter with some girl a few weeks back and that she knows where the girl lives.

Mimi insisted on going to that girl's house. and April agreed to take her. They both went to the house but no one was there but some guy. Finding nothing there they both returned to their houses. Mimi just couldn't take it and made Peter confess. Peter said he is in love with somone else but wouldn't say who. Then, Mimi couldn't take it and went back to that house. There she talked to the same guy STeve who was their earlier. He said there is no girl here and that only him and his father live there. Confused Mimi finally realised that April was trying to confuse her when really April was the girl Peter loved.

Same afternoon Mimi called up April to her house and the truth came out. Mimi decided that she couldn't let this go, so she packed her stuff and left. The story ended with Mimi meeting the same guy Steve which could be the beginning to something new.

Did Mimi do the right thing or should she have tried to save her marriage???

The Fiancée

Always traveling around and not having a set destination or having her mind set is the story of a 23 year old Penny. Penny has been traveling from Montreal to Calgary will be teaching students who don’t know how to speak a word of French. Left behind in Montreal is her fiancé Andrew who is a part of the army and loves Penny with all his life. He wasn’t very happy with her decision of leaving because he soon wanted to marry her since they have already been engaged, but confused Penny just goes with her gut feeling and promises to come back to him after she’s done teaching.

When Penny got to Calgary she didn’t know anyone until she met a friendly guy David. David is an architect who is working on several projects. Penny and David are really friendly for a bit and love going on walks together, however after a while David got busy and they lost contact which confuses her even more.

A few weeks left before the year ends is when Penny is done teaching and planning on returning back to Andrew she meets Gerard. When Gerard and Penny have their last dance together she has the description of “the tempo and rhythm are like nothing Penny has heard before. But the lyrics tell the same story”. So then Penny proposes to Gerard saying that we have things in common we should get married. Gerard didn’t seem to like the idea and tried putting her off. The end was more of a mystery because it didn’t state on who she actually went to but from reading this whom do you feel Penny should be with???
